In 1978, Gary began his career in financial services as an insurance agent. His practice evolved quickly as he started working exclusively with physicians and other medical practitioners early on. Within a few years, he was providing not only insurance and investments, but overall financial planning and guidance. In 2004, Gary's practice was thriving and he realized that he needed to start to a build a team in order to meet the increasing demands of his clients.
Gary's early success in his career is largely attributed to his perspective and level of commitment. He had significant challenges early on in his life, spending many years in a housing project in New York. When he entered his senior year of high school, his mother shared that not only would he be the first person in the family to attend college, but the first person she ever knew personally to achieve higher education. Unfortunately, neither she, nor his father would see Gary off to college — his father passed just before high school graduation, and his mother shortly thereafter. Having lost both his parents so early, Gary was committed to do whatever it took to get himself through college, earning a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration at Northeastern University.
Gary and his wife of 36 years, Marga currently reside in Weston, MA and spend their summers on Cape Cod. They both greatly enjoy all that New England has to offer, with Gary especially enjoying days out on the golf course or off shore fishing. The Peters Group now includes their son, Nicholas, and two other financial advisors along with an exceptional support staff. The growth of the team, with a combined 70 years' experience in the physician financial world, has enabled Gary to take more time off as he is now semi-retired. His time is primarily devoted to transitioning the practice to other advisors while continuing to be involved working with clients.
